Friday Night Pizza, Fun Filled Saturday, and Brunch on Sunday!

Friday during the day I went with the kids and their mom to the "Christmas Village" a store that sells everything for Christmas! It was overwhelming but so exciting for the kids...plus a reminder to me how fast the year is going....christmas already?

Friday night the parents went out of town and I got to spend some quality time with the kids and Nonna (grandma). For dinner I helped the kids make their very own pizzas! The dough was already made they just needed to make it circular and add their sauce and cheese! It was a fun activity especially since they could eat it in the end! After dinner the kids were really well behaved because I had told them they could watch Narnia Prince Caspian with me. So we all got into our pjs (even me) and headed to the big sofa in the TV room. I was so tired that even though I was enjoying the film I started to dose off a bit. The movie didn't even finish until around 11 and luckily the kids went straight to bed with no problem. Since it was such a late night I had high hopes that the kids would sleep late. However, around 7:30 am I heard a little patter of footsteps down the hallway....Kiara was running into my room with Bea following. Instead of getting up for breakfast the three of us jumped back into my bed and had a sleepover for an hour or so.

After breakfast we got ready and were going to head to the church so that the kids could finally play outside for a bit. However, as soon as we stepped outside we realized how cold and rainy the weather was and headed back in. Bea still wanted to go, so Paolo stayed back and Bea and I took a walk down to San Ambrogias. Unfortunately the oritorium was closed, but it was so good for her to get out of the house and have some fresh air. I enjoyed spending the one-on-one time with her and we even saw a bride about to get married (Bea loved her dress!).

Saturday night after the parents returned I took Meghan to her first aperitivo! The highlight was definitely the warm pane e nutella at the end! After that we met up with Laura and Britney (two other au pairs) and Britney's two friends from the US who were studying in Ireland at a bar called Colonial near Piazza di San Lorenzo. Thats when our night got interesting.

Britney had met an Italian guy and he was going to meet us. As soon as he walked in we all determined that he was a shorter, Italian version of Justin Bobby from "The Hills." So as he took us around the Piazza San Lorenzo area we just referred to him as JB and were throughly entertained. Near the end of our night we met some Italian guys wearing rugby jerseys and strange hats/masks. They started talking to us about the rugby match earlier in the day between New Zealand and Italy (new zealand crushed). It was a great way to practice my Italian and a fun way to end the night.

Sunday morning I was up early ready to go...although the rest of the family seemed to actually sleep in! We went to their grandma and granddad's house (on the dad's side) and

immediately the kids started running around. Unfortunately the house is pretty much like a museum with everything being fragile and expensive. So finally I calmed the kids down and we played a good old game of eye spy and then some tic-tac-toe.

Brunch was VERY chaotic. I was sitting at the kid's table with about 12 children ranging in ages from 4-10. Bea was immediately pretty upset because all the girls were there with friends and she didn't have a friend...except for me! I managed to keep her tears at bay with a little music from my ipod. Paolo was busy trying to show off and act tough in front of a girl he has a little crush on. And then there was me...getting made fun of by the waiters for being the oldest person at a table full of kids...well i guess its just in the job description!

Overall a pretty eventful and exciting weekend...not to mention great to get out of the house (for me and the kids)!
